      Dear Reader,

we would like to take the opportunity to wish you a wonderful, successful and healthy New Year!
2014 will be an important year for learning innovation on the European level. Horizon 2020, the Opening up Education Initiative and Erasmus+ are large European programs that are just starting and that will have a tremendous impact on the European learning landscape. In the past year, ELIG has been closely involved in supporting the launch auf these programs, in facilitating debate between practitioners and EU institutions on the highest levels – including the responsible Commissioners for Education and the Digital Agenda as well as their General Directorates and other important institutions such as the Committee of the Regions. In our aim to "walk the talk", ELIG is also engaged in concrete innovation initiatives and experience sharing in many countries and with a wide group of partners.
We are delighted to welcome all of you passionately back in the ELIG community to continue changing the way Europe learns in 2014. Please see our most recent activities in this newsletter.

Best regards from the ELIG Team!

Save the date for the ELIG Annual Conference 2014:
18th–19th of September in London

to join over 120 academics, digital learning leaders, industry representatives, entrepreneurs and policy makers and engage in a rich dialogue over two days at the Institute of Education in London.

After the great experiences from our annual members meetings - last year at the Stockholm University and Kista Science City – and the many expressions of interest from our wider community, we decided to create a new format that combines the ELIG members meeting with a distinct conference.
Characteristics of this new format will be:
  • True dialogue with top-level speakers
  • Oriented towards actions, practical strategies and forming European initiatives
  • Organized at European hot-spot locations for learning innovation
  • Restricted part for ELIG members
  • Open part for high-level decision makers from the European learning and education domain
  • More visibility through wider communication & sponsorship options
This event will be free for all ELIG members. Other participants may choose a sponsorship or individual participant package. The event is jointly organized with our partner ICWE – organizers of events like the Online Educa Berlin and eLearning Africa.
